Hawaii Convention Center
The Hawaii Convention Center is the largest exhibition center of its type in the state, located directly to the west of the Waikiki district of Honolulu in Ala Moana. The building offers approximately 1.1 million square feet of indoor and outdoor ballroom and exhibition floor space. Crossland Engineering provided Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural Engineering services for a design-build project with Johnson Controls to modernize the existing 2,000-ton chiller plant. The new all-variable speed chilled water equipment includes centrifugal chillers with low-GWP refrigerant, fiberglass cooling towers, chilled water pumps, and condenser water pumps. We worked collaboratively with the contractor to carefully select, control, and commission the equipment to achieve significant energy savings, reliable redundancy, simplicity of operation, and ease of maintenance for this state-of-the-art facility.
