The Old Spaghetti Factory

The Old Spaghetti Factory

A reopening of Honolulu’s iconic spaghetti restaurant! The new location is approximately 11,000 sq. ft. at Hawai’i Pacific University’s Aloha Tower Marketplace in downtown Honolulu. The restaurant includes three dining rooms, a bar seating area, a covered outdoor patio, and a full-size commercial kitchen. Crossland Engineering provided full Mechanical Engineering design for the HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems. We helped their facility achieve multiple energy efficient systems such as water-source heat pump air-conditioning, demand-controlled kitchen exhaust, and condensing gas water heaters.

Hawaii City Plaza

Hawaii City Plaza

A 250-foot tall condominium tower in Honolulu’s Ala Moana Transit-Oriented Development Special District. The building features 184 one- and two-bedroom residential units, three ground floor restaurants, a podium recreation deck with pool/spa and BBQ areas, and a rooftop viewing deck. Crossland Engineering is providing full Mechanical Engineering design for the HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems. Energy efficient mechanical systems in our design include decentralized VRF air-conditioning at each residential unit, condensing tankless gas water heating central plant, variable speed domestic water booster pumps, and demand-controlled common kitchen, bathroom, and clothes dryer exhaust systems. We are also implementing individual sub-metering of cold water, hot water, natural gas, and electricity with automated billing for each residential unit and each ground floor restaurant to encourage all occupants of the building to use energy responsibly.

Hawaii Convention Center

Hawaii Convention Center

The Hawaii Convention Center is the largest exhibition center of its type in the state, located directly to the west of the Waikiki district of Honolulu in Ala Moana. The building offers approximately 1.1 million square feet of indoor and outdoor ballroom and exhibition floor space. Crossland Engineering provided Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural Engineering services for a design-build project with Johnson Controls to modernize the existing 2,000-ton chiller plant. The new all-variable speed chilled water equipment includes centrifugal chillers with low-GWP refrigerant, fiberglass cooling towers, chilled water pumps, and condenser water pumps. We worked collaboratively with the contractor to carefully select, control, and commission the equipment to achieve significant energy savings, reliable redundancy, simplicity of operation, and ease of maintenance for this state-of-the-art facility.

HPU Aloha Tower Student Residences

HPU Aloha Tower Student Residences

The new student residences at Hawai’i Pacific University’s Aloha Tower Marketplace are located on the third floor and are comprised of double-, triple-, and quad-occupancy bedrooms with a central lounge/study area and shared bathroom/shower facilities. The student residences are 5,200 sq. ft. each, located in two adjacent buildings that overlook the front of the property. Crossland Engineering provided full Mechanical Engineering design for the HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems to remodel the existing administration spaces into a new college dormitory.

Pier Nine by Sam Choy

Pier Nine by Sam Choy

Hawai’i Pacific University’s new on-campus waterfront dining facility features indoor and outdoor seating as well as a private dining room. Including the full-size commercial kitchen, the new space is 6,800 sq. ft. and is architecturally modeled after an open marketplace. Crossland Engineering provided full Mechanical Engineering design for the HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems. We achieved multiple energy efficient strategies such as water-source heat pump air-conditioning, demand-controlled kitchen exhaust, and condensing gas water heaters.

The Villa on Eaton Square

The Villa on Eaton Square

A 37-story condominium tower built in 1975 that is located in the Eaton Square shopping center in the Waikiki district of Honolulu. The building consists of commercial office spaces on floors 1-5 with an adjacent parking garage, and 428 one- and two-bedroom residential units in the residential tower with a rooftop recreation deck including a pool and BBQ areas. Crossland Engineering has utilized digital data logging equipment and provided multiple existing condition assessment reports, leading to the design and modernization of their hot water recirculation system, domestic water booster pump system, and chilled water air-conditioning system. We have also provided project management services for the AOAO to ensure smooth delivery of the construction.

Hawaii Ocean Plaza

Hawaii Ocean Plaza

This unique 40-story, 400-foot tall mixed-use tower located in Honolulu’s Ala Moana Transit-Oriented Development neighborhood includes 216 residential condominiums and 175 hotel rooms with multiple restaurants and retail spaces at the ground level. The building also offers a generous 8th-floor recreation deck above the parking garage that includes a swimming pool, a restaurant and pool bar, multi-purpose and banquet rooms, a gym, and a large central courtyard with multi-level hotel atrium above. We are eager to incorporate a variety of energy-efficient and sustainable strategies as the Mechanical Engineering consultant for the HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design of this exciting project.

Portlock Residence

Portlock Residence

We provided a custom air-conditioning and dedicated dehumidification design to support the second-floor bedroom suite renovation of this single-family residence located on the waterfront in the Portlock neighborhood near Hawaii Kai. The new bedroom suite in the makai wing of the home consists of a bedroom, toilet room, shower room, walk-in closet, and home office. Our drawings were closely coordinated with the Owner, Architect, and Contractor to ensure aesthetically pleasing design concepts and implementation solutions for the new HVAC systems.
